    I need a professional opinion.

Will changing form a Celeron 1.3 to a ULV 7300 Core Duo 1.3 processor, and changing from a 5400 rpm hard drive to a 7200 rpm hard drive give me any noticeable performance improvments, or will it be so little I won't notice. I do nothing major on my laptop. Just surfing, insurance quotes from various companies quoteing software, quicken, Office 2007, internet etc. I run W7 HP. 32 bit

I have chance to trade up my laptop with the two above upgrades and also to an b/g/n wireless card form a b/g for aobut $150-$175. How much is this total trade up worth, if anything? It is the same model laptop, except for the three upgrades.

I really appreciate any input from this forum.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Thanks

To get a 4gb stick for this rig costs about $150.

What do you think these other three options I mentioned in the original post are worth. I cant afford both. Would I be better to get the 4gb ram, and keep the old laptop with the new ram? Or get the newer laptop, but still with 2 gb ram, and the other three upgrades?
    Thanks,
    Bill

The duo core will be noticable. The faster disk barely. But as manhunter says, the key to performance is RAM. 3GBs is ideal for a 32bit system.

In that case I would vote for the upgrades - meaning the new laptop.

Ah, I'm slightly confused now. I thought the options presented were purely that of an upgrade in hardware - not that of a new laptop on offer. In which case, I personally would go with the new laptop (and the upgraded spec.) and live with the 2GB Ram - Windows 7 will cope with that with ease for your needs IMHO. Anyone else/?

Thanks. I didn't think about that, and I spend several hours a week on battery with clients in their home. That is an important condideration.
