    New DVD Drive Installation Question

    Hey-o,

I'm going to replace an old DVD drive today and I wanted to make sure my procedure is correct. Here's what a plan to do:

    1) Uninstall the current drive from the device manager.
    2) Shut down.
    3) Physically remove the current drive from the computer.
    4) Physically install the new drive into the computer.
    5) Boot up*

    * Windows should automatically install the device drivers, correct? (i've confirmed that the drive is supported by windows and the manufacturer)

    Does this look good?

Of note, having done this more times than I can remember, Windows will recognize the new drive after some seconds of fussing, whether you had removed the old drive from Device manager or not.

    Bye.

    looks good.

I also unplug the power cord from the case THEN hit the power button again to eat up any remaining juice in the system before I start plugging and unplugging components.
