Usb drives are not shown in "My Computer"

    Welcome back Designation7.

    My earlier post was a bit of a typo. The actual startup entry you are looking for is "usbmonitor". Sorry for the confusion.

    Did you state earlier that you do not have the disc? Do you know anyone that has a disc so you can run a Windows repair install from? I think that will be the safest place to start.

    I just thought of something.

    Go to this address. Windows 7 Services Registry Files and Information

    Go to almost the bottom of the page and download the "default" services registry patch. Lets just see if that resets things to where they need to be. Make sure you choose the appropriate file for your version of Windows 7.

    Well thanks for the help everybody, I didn't see that last post so I ended up fixing the problem myself...by reinstalling windows.
    So I don't know if that would've worked but it is a good idea, my comp is back to normal.

    But I have a message to anyone who sees this: Don't mess with the registry unless you absolutely know what you're doing!
