    assign device letter.

    hi,

i have a 500gb segate 2.5" portable hard drive which i store all my music on as my computer had a small hard drive. i have been using this with itunes for some time and therefore only being able to play or sync them in itunes when the external hard drive is plugged in.
lately every time i plug it in, or plug something else in such as an iPod and then plug it in, it comes up with a different letter assigned to it. this means that when i try to play a song on itunes it comes up with "cannot play song because original file cannot be found."
is there any way to set the letter of the drive so that it does not change no matter how many other devices i plug in. so i don't have to add all the songs into itunes every time i want to play something or sync something onto my ipod.
    any help would be appreciated

if it helps i am on windows 7 home premium 32 bit

    Welcome noodle4,

That does seem to be a problem, I found this USB Drive Letter Manager - Freeware - Download.CHIP.eu after searching for an answer for this problem, I've never used it but you might want give it a look and see if it helps.
