    Hi Hachem.

You either haven't installed your Chipset drivers or haven't enabled SATA mode in your BIOS, Hotswapping does work though

chipset driver installed automatically, device manager giving no exclamation mark. hotswap does indeed work sometimes, but it is not reliable. this goes once again for sata through expresscard as well as for usb.

Thats a standard Windows driver and it only supports basic functions, Its not actually your chipset driver for your chipset and its features

Download the chipset driver from your Motherboard manufacturer website.

i wish it were so, but intel chipset uitility does not change anything to the drivers installed. it concerns an acer laptop with dualcore p7450 en chipset ich9. i did not have this problem with vista ultimate 64bits. i have not yet figured out a pattern to the problem. switching the expresscard or a usb drive on or off can work the whole time, and sometimes the system just stops responding.
