Are you on a laptop using an external mouse? If not, reply now with "no", haha.

If so, make sure you arent hitting the trackpad on the laptop while you are typing, or if your laptop has a trackpointer in the middle of the keyboard, same thing, make sure you are not hitting it.
    Good idea!

I have my old monitor plugged in, a full-sized keyboard on a usb and a logitech wireless mouse on a usb. The laptop is closed.

I tried the trackpad for a few days, but I am more comfortable with a regular keyboard and mouse.

It might be hardware. is this doing this with other mice? can you borrow a mouse from someone to see if it still happens on your computer?

If you cant borrow a mouse, you should test in safe-mode to see if the problem persists while in safe-mode
    Safe Mode
I have not tried a different mouse yet, though I did try safe-mode.

    You are brilliant!

I could not get it to mess up in safe mode, so I think that indicates software and not hardware.

In control panel/mouse do you have this setting turned on,this may cause the problem you are having
    Thank you.

The 'clicklock' box was not checked.

I did check it and then applied, then un-checked it and applied again. [Just in case]

Ok if it did not do this in safe-mode, then it is not hardware. It is probably one of the mouse drivers.

There are a few more things you can try. I will try to find appropriate tutorials

If you dont have setpoint installed or dont have the latest Driver, then get it from the link I posted above. and choose for OS "Windows 7" and "SetPoint 6.10" and then "SetPoint 32 bit"

Read all the notes and follow the instructions for installation.
