New Rig, No Video

I found another person with the same issue.

Looks like I have a lot of remedies to try, everyone's suggestions here and also CMOS and BIOS:

Your Asus board comes with a little doohicky I like to call a, "front block panel block"... wordy for sure, but it sure beats jamming your hand into the narrow space between the bottom of your board and the case... all the while holding a flashlight in your teeth, or worse, wearing a miner type headstrap flashlight (yeah I got one, lol).

It's the white plastic piece next to the blue (i forgot what they're calling it?) They say that polarity doesn't matter with the power and reset switch, but, just so you know, there's a triangle on the opposite side which denotes positive. I always like to get them right... but I'm just anal like that.

I'm not quite sure which piece in the photos you are describing.

I thought I had. But there seems to be no wire with the board or my case for it. It is the only set of pins without a connector on it currently.

EDIT: My video card has an S/PDIF connection to the board. That is how I currently have it. I'll check again to make sure that is connected correctly.

Also, I believe that the DRAM LED is constantly on and that alerts to a memory issue. I think I read someone had to use the "MEM-OK" button on the board which "tunes" the memory. Someone said that the BIOS and memory are not always in sync out of the box.

The "front block panel block connector :)), is the white piece of plastic on the lower right of the screen, right next to the blue piece of plastic. Zoom in, then move the image with your mouse, then zoom again, for a better picture.

The speaker attaches directly to the board. A speaker should have come with your case, instructions on where to place it are in the manual in the same section as the front block panel instructions.

I wasn't aware that nVidia cards did audio, I thought only ATI's did. In any event, since you don't even have drivers for the card installed, I'd remove the s/pdif and worry about that later.

Oh, you mean the connector that holds the speaker and case LEDs? Yeah, no connector came with either the board or my particular case. I have the Antec 300 case.

The connector should have come with your board; the speaker with your case. The connector isn't essential, just handy, but hearing beeps could be considered essential? Case/Motherboard Speaker - Speakers , or call Antec and complain that you didn't get one.

Do you think calling them would do anything?

UPDATE:

Taking the board out and putting it on the anti-static bag did not produce different results.

The red LED for memory problems remained lit continuously -- supposedly indicating a RAM issue.

Attempted boot with PSU, Board, RAM, processor, and video card. -- Everything seated securely.

Used one of three RAM sticks to alternate slots. Will prob try the other two just to be thorough.

Going to try the CMOS next.

The BIOS version printed on my board says 1.00G.

On the Asus site it says i7-930 is supported on BIOS 0108 and later. On all PCBs.

That's a bit confusing.

The manual says the memory LED remains on if the RAM isn't compatible with the board.

They instruct to get RAM that is listed in the book as definitely being compatible. My RAM is not on there.



However, someone on NewEgg has the same board and RAM and had no issues.

Try each stick individually to see if you can get her to boot. If you can, use AsusUpdate to grab the latest bios.
