Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate

Have a very similar situation: Windows 7 OS, newly installed, working great. Here are the facts:

1) External HDD connected via 1394 to on-board dfi lanparty MBO input.
2) Worked fine for the three days immediately following installation.
3) I did not know there was a two hour default "put the computer to sleep" in Win 7.
4) Device was actively working when 3) took place; i.e. computer put to sleep. (I rebooted thinking I had inadvertenly said shut down to process that was using the external HDD.)
5) Now an error message appears "The device cannot start. Code 10".
6) Following all troubleshooting advice (uninstalling, unplugging, booting with and without device on, hot plugging), including Microsoft's recs for Code 10s, always results with a "failed to install driver" message.
7) Then tried USB (on same computer) and eSATA (on another computer) to verify drive OK.
8) See attached screen shot for complete summary of above.

I think there's a pattern building here having to do with hibernation.
