    12gb ram (9.99gb usable)

I have win 7 home premium x64, Asus P6X58D Premium, core i7 920, 12gb wintec ind. AMPX 1333mhz ram and in my computer >>properties it shows 12gb ram (9.99gb usable). What do I have to do to get this right. All DIMMS work, if I run only 5 I get 10gb I have tried switching it up I'm not sure one of the slots are to blame I have a feeling its reading it wrong. Is there anything you can suggest?

    Thanks in advance Jeremy

1st. Check the sticks and make sure one isn't defective. IE, take different ones out, see if it only report 10GB.

2nd, Start->Run->type MSCONFIG->Boot->Advanced Options-> Check that maximum memory isnt checked. This seemed to be the solution for everyone else on google.

3rd, make sure you aren't overclocking, CMOS reset etc.

    Welcome to Seven Forums Jeremy.

Check the msconfig setting mentioned by Thelen.

If that isn't it then we can try something else.

If you are overclocking tell us what the settings are at, both CPU and RAM.
Post the CPU and Memory tabs from CPUZ .

Check your temperatures with Real Temp, and post the temps at idle.

What amount of RAM is showing in BIOS?

Open Windows Task Manager, click 'Resource Monitor' in the 'Memory' tab, tell us what it says under 'Physical Memory'.

If the above info confirms the 9.99GB usable.

    Download Memtest86

Burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder.
Boot from the CD, and run at least 5 passes.

If you get any errors, take out all but one stick, run at least 5 passes with Memtest86.
Your looking for bad RAM sticks and bad slots.
If you get an error, change to a known good stick and run the test in the same slot.
Test all sticks and all slots even if you find a bad one.

Be sure to unplug the power plug, and use a static/grounding wrist strap.
