help with USB HDD

    I don't think it is the USB connection - I am pretty *positive* that until you can get it back into the original machine it is not going to do squat.

    Do some reading on TPM and you'll understand.

    as I said there is no more original machine the mobo was broken almost in half. to me it looks like he punched it or hit it with something but I didn't ask.

    Your last shot is to boot off a CD and try - else the drive is useless to you.

    well with direct access while connected directly to a mobo I can break the lock/password and make it usable. my thing is doing it over a USB connection. I have figured out its not a TPM on this drive thank god, this is one that toshiba hasn't put that to use yet. So its somewhere written on the drive itself. even windows 7 tries to format but can't write to the drive.

    thanks for trying. I am learning about a lot of software and new ways of protecting a HDD. My old boss would have laughed at me for even trying this but its been worth exploring the idea even if basicly I know with current tech I can't do it.
