keyboard doesn't work after program installs

    Hi all

I have just reinstalled my girlfriends Dell. I am having a problem where every time i install any program eg itunes or drivers. The computer keyboard stops working until i enter safemode.

Any ideas how i might be able to fix the problem.

the computer is a Inspiron 1545

    cheers

Update motherboard drivers, and try sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

in the process of updating drivers - still in download stage.

I tried sfc /scannow and the keyboard didn't work after a restart and had to enter safemode.

Dell doesn't have the a keyboard driver listed on there website. Could i just uninstall the driver and let it update.

I might just ring dell tomorrow to get some disks of them. Might be a buggie recovery panel.

    thanks for your help

worked out what the issue is

I had stopped a couple of dell programs from auto running. This seem to stop the keyboard. I have turned them back on and the issue has gone

Ah, so you turned off the keyboard driver. Yeah, that would do it...
