Windows 7 wont detect external monitor

    Windows 7 wont detect external monitor


    I have a hp pavilion dv7. It has treated me good until I upgraded to windows 7. Windows 7 does not recognize a monitor from vga or hdmi. I just recived me view sonic monitor in the mail to find my laptop does not agree. I have called hp and view sonic, neiter can help. Please Help! I have installed and re installed the driver, I don't know what else to do!

    right click on the desktop and go to properties, once in there check for a display tab or something like that

    if you see 2 'monitors' in there, simple check 'extend monitor'

    should work.

    if not use the go by from HP, in this example they are connecting a TV and an External Monitor, disregard steps for TV.

    Do you have External monitor enabled in BIOS?
