HPs generally report higher temperatures and tend to run hotter than most other laptops. It's entirely possible that your laptop is overheating. One thing I would suggest is cleaning it inside and out.. Get rid of all the dust, then get rid of everything you don't actually use, or better yet, erase your hdd and reinstall windows.
ok if you decide to open the case , be careful all the components are tightly placed , what i would suggest is while the case is open carefully remove the cpu heatsink and gpu heatsink and reapply some thermal compound such as AC3 orAS5 then clean all the fans and fan vents then you should be good to go
