W7 - Can't disable speedstep?
Hi everyone. I have been googling this little issue for a while now, and decided that I should ask.
I have an Asus 1000HE running Windows 7. It is an Atom N280, and I945 chipset. Everything is working fine, all of the drivers are installed and there are no unknown devices.
The issue that I am having is that I can't stop speed step. If I set the netbook on high performance, and edit the configuration to set min processor speed to 100, when I fire up CPUz it still shows the processor dropping speed.
There unfortunately is no option in the BIOS to disable speed step either. I tried MaxCPUID on and off, and that didn't help either.
I know that it can be done in Linux as simply as changing the CPU mode with CPUFreq, so it's possible. I just haven't been able to make it "so". It also didn't exhibit this behavior with XP.
Anyone have any ideas?
