Bootmgr missing windows 7

My gateway nv53 crashed 1week ago . I tried to recover from os installed from factory 4 times and comp would work allday great . Upon restarting a second time the system would go down again . I decided to do a complete reinstall with the recovery discs . unfortunitly it wiped my harddrive clean . The recovery discs (3) go thru the language screen and keybord screen and begin to load . when it finishes with 1 of 3 and prompts to insert 2 of 3 I do and it begins only to stop at D:\Patch\Modules\WIncre.003\WOP000180OX0TC1129.SWM with a message Fail to copy file to HDD . I have tried this a few times and always the same result . I made a set of backup discs when I first rebooted aweek ago and those discs also stop at the same spot. This computer is only 7 mo. old and I use it mainly for surfing and some games . I downloaded the repair disc at neosmart and when I insert it I get the message Bootmgr missing . I have even tried to use a set of windows XP recovery discs and the comp won't recognise the , goes straight to bootmgr missing .

Any help would be great .

P.S. I am not that computer savy

Thank you for the post.

I suggest trying the following methods to troubleshoot the issue:

Method 1: Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
============================================
1. Insert the Windows 7 installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.
3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next.
6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on Repair your computer.
7. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
8. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

Method 2: Rebuild BCD
============================================
1. Put the Windows Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd , and then press ENTER.

Method 3: Use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to run System Restore ============================================

5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next
6. At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on System Restore.
7. Follow the System Restore Wizard instruction as usual and choose the appropriate restore point.
8. Click Finish to restore the system.

Hope this helps.

Download Windows 7 32 bit Repair Disc.iso
Download Windows 7 64 bit Repair Disc.iso

You can burn the .ISO to a DVD using The Official ImgBurn Website
Be sure to burn at a slow rate so your disc doesn't get corrupted

Thanks for all the replys. I did redownload the torrent repair disk on my IBM laptop and checked it to make sure it was good . I put it in my gateway and still get the boot manager is missing . Guess I will have to take it to a gateway repair shop and see whats wrong . It is still under warr.

If I was to buy a new windowsxp pro os , should it be able to load? and if not would that tell me that there might be other issues with the comp?

Again thanks,

Steve
