It could be. Try the MS Fixit.

Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media

If that doesnt help, try the solutions on this page.

The solution about deleting the upper and lower filters is the one suggested in my earlier post too.

Sorry, I didn't make it clear, the last post in that thread(No:9).

You are trying a wrong BIOS,they are not for W7.
