    SSD and Windows 7 Settings

I just got my first SSD and would like to know what are the best and safe practices regarding Windows 7 settings to help prolong the life of the drive.
I found a couple lists through Google but would like to know what experienced users here have to say about it.

Ive already gotten rid of my pagefile and disabled indexing. I wasnt able to disable write caching though. I heard mixed things reviews on disabling that but thought id try anyways. But whenever I remove the check mark, I get the Windows blue busy circle and the system just hangs and im forced to power down my cp at the power button. So I guess I shouldnt even bother with caching since it doesnt look like itll work anyways.

Also, should it matter which SATA port I use? I just plugged it in to a spare port and powered it up. Didnt change anything in the BIOS. Not sure if thats something I should look at as well.

Sorry for asking a lot and rambling. Its just that these drives arent cheap and Id like to get the most out of it while trying to pro-long its life at the same time.
