DVD-R or DVD-RW??
Hi all,
I wasnt really sure where to post this question... but here it goes:
Does it matter which kind of DVD disk you use when you burn Windows 7 RC .iso image?
I am trying to help sombody (remotely) who is having issues installing the RC. When the installation gets to the 1st boot after expanding files etc... it just keeps rebooting.
Things I have suggested that have not worked:
1: redownload Windows RC.. burn at lowest rate ( he did, burned at 1x and did not fix. Downloaded from MS webpage)
2: Bios already updated
3: no loose connections or such concerning hardware
4: Windows Beta (7000 Build work fine)
5: This is a clean install (Previous OS was XP SP3)
He did inform me that he just noticed that he burned windows 7 to a dvd-rw dvd. I burned mine to just a regular DVD-R and I didnt have any issues at all installing the RC. Was wondering if maybe the DVD-R may be more compatible with his dvd-rom drive.
I dont have alot of info on his specs yet accept it is a Dell Insprion E1505 laptop, Intel Dual Core processor, 2GB RAM. Sometimes just trying to get specs is like pulling teeth lol!!! I also asked him if he was trying to install 32 bit or 64 bit... still waiting for answer lol
So, does it really make a difference on what kind of DVD you use? I told him to burn windows RC to a DVD-R and see if makes a difference. Havent heard anything yet so dont know if it worked or not.
thanks guys for any ideas/help
