Epson printer better in Beta than RC?

Hi, this is just a silly question: Later on April (I didn't know that Win7RC would be out on May 5th), I installed Win7Beta on my 6 year old Dell Dimension 8200 computer, after a painful year with Vista and oh, boy! I immediately fell in love with Win7, I installed most of my devices with the Vista drivers I had from Vista.

One thing that amazed me a lot was that when I installed the drivers for my Epson Color Stylus RX 680 and then went to Devices in Win7Beta the icon for the printer was exactly the same as my real printer, nor a generic one icon. And when I selected the printer a flashing window with the EPSON word was displayed. 'That is something cool' I thought.

On May 5th I downloaded and installed Win7RC hoping for more improved things, but when I check the Devices windows, the printer now has a generic icon instead of the customized one of the Beta version.

Is that possible that with a newer version of Win7, my printer lost that cool functionality?

Hello Javiersf, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check to make sure that you have step 3 enabled below to see if that may help after the next time it updates.

    Device Installation Settings

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks for the warm welcome, Shawn.

Actually my default windows update settings are the ones you recommend, but, you know what? I just recall that even the Computer realistic icon of Win7beta was more close to my real computer than the one in RC.

I am worried that this small thing, means MS is removing stuff from the Final Win7.

Not sure why the icons are different for you in this build. So far the keyboard icon has gotten better for me, but the others are the same as in that tutorial.

Hopefully it wil be better for you in the RC2 build when it is released.

    Ehh...mmm.... I thought there wouldn't be a RC2 and Win7RC would be the pre-otm version.

Do you think it will be another version before the final?

I heard rumors that there may be. We'll have to wait and see I guess.
