Hello,

I'm having a real problem that I haven't been able to solve on my own or by using the search function on these forums. I installed 7 on my new desktop back in December and a couple of months ago, maybe at the end of May, I ran into a serious bug in which my mouse does not operate the way that it should with windows 7.

Describing this problem will be a pain as it's difficult to convey via text but I'lll try my best nonetheless. Sometimes the mouse acts fine, there is no delay in cursor movement at all, but 75% of the time this problem occurs in which I am unable to click the start menu, or any icon on that quicklaunch bar. If i click the top of a window it clicks out of it like I am clicking on the background. I can't click on any icon on the desktop at all. If I am surfing the web and visit multiple pages in one tab it will, more often than not, start backing up pages automatically when I am not clicking on or using the mouse at all. It will back up, page by page, to the first page that tab was on. If I launch a program while this program is occuring, like Warcraft 3, SC2 or WoW, as soon as I left click anything in game it will automatically minimize the program. As I type this out I am on my laptop (32 bit windows 7, no problems by the way) I have the sevenforums webpage up on my desktop and I can't click anything in that open browser window. The only thing that temporarily gets rid of this problem is when I CTRL+ALT+DEL then proceed to hit cancel the problem will go away for 30 seconds to 1 minute before reappearing.

Mouse used: Logitech MX518

Things I have tried:
-Searching sevenforums.com for answers - I found a few threads that looked similar to my situation so I tried switching mice to my cordless that I use for my laptop, it is a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000 and the situation stayed the same. No change in results
-I, thinking that it was a serious virus, completely reformatted my PC last Friday and the problem started occurring before I could install any new programs.
-I installed the latest Setpoint drivers frrom a recommendation by whest on one of the threads that I read.
-I completely uninstalled those drivers and installed the setpoint drivers for Vista64 (another recommendation I found on these forums which appeared to solve the problem for the OP) and no change.

I am stumped and frustrated. I have to have this computer working as I work from home and it is impairing my ability to do my job.

PLEASE help! I'll post anything you guys need, if you need full system specs, if you need me to reformat again, whatever you need me to do please let me know. If this post is in the wrong forum I would kindly ask a moderator to move it to where it needs to be.

Sincerely,

Joe
Msoft seem to be going thru a period of naff mice and keyboards ie seems like multiple failures. I
know the X000 keyboards were failing and some of the X000 mice! Thats why they have had massive discounts on them over last 6-8months.

There are 60 reviews on amazon uk to look at for various 'fails' ideas on your mouse. I would return it.

The paintwork on the side and top left button started coming off within a couple of months of home use on my Expensive Explorer mouse.
I will be sending it back after 10 months or so use, for a new one! NAFF & inexcusable!
