    Needing to keep adjusting monitor

I have a Gateway FPD1976W 19" widscreen monitor with a res of 1400x900. and I have the latest graphics card for my GeForce 8600 gt. Ever since I installed an os other than the OEM everytime I login I have to click the autoadjust button. It's gotten to be a habit but lately it's been REALLY bad. When I login the screen is usually almost half way disappeared and the other half is left with just blackness.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't think there is a fix for that. My monitor does that sometimes and I have to press the auto adjust button.

Does it have DVI? that is digital and should work without needing auto-adjust.

Another thing to make sure of is that the drivers for the monitor are installed and up-to-date.

BTW, I have the same issue with a 19" LCD that I have at home.
Its not as visible though just a few pixels off.

I have it hooked up through VGA, I will try with DVI cable if you don't have one so I can verify it works before you go out and spend money. k?

(This will be much later today. It is 10:30am here and I won't be able to test this till about 6 or 7pm)

    Gateway Support - Specifications

hmmm it doesn't look like you have a DVI port on your computer.

Did you get both together from Gateway?

Sorry for the late reply. I am currently connected with VGA I looked through all of the settings in the monitor and tried manually doing it instead of auto adjusting thinking that it might save the settings, but that didn't work either. yes both came together as a gateway complete. But I just remembered that this started happening after I added the new graphics driver.

I didn't catch that. you have an nVidia Graphics card. you should be able to hook up the monitor to a DVI port on your card.

    Try rolling back the driver.

After that, use a driver cleaner to make sure you completely clean out the current video card drivers, then try installing them again.

Try updating the graphic cards driver and see if that helps.
