Really appreciate all the feedback! Huge thanks!
I did try just plugging in the camera without any software. The moment it is connected, Windows automatically starts to search for a driver and I finish up back at square one.
Carl.

I think it very well could be your chipset drivers. Is there a yellow triangle under chipset driver in device manager? Check the manufacturer of your PC website for Windows 7 drivers. Also on some older XP machines a BIOS update is needed to run Windows 7 properly. Check manufacturers website for BIOS update too. Windows 7 is great for installing default drivers for the machine to work, but sometimes you have to do some searching for the best driver.
