there are threads about bad sound with the Live! Value card.
My problem is that Windows 7 does not recognize the card at all. not even as unknown device.
The beta did. But the current RC does not show the card at all.
How can get Windows 7 RC to detect my Creative Live! Value Card?
Please help me!

That's an ancient card. Is it still working? Have you tried reseating the card in your computer?
I got a dualboot XP / Windows 7 RC at the moment. With XP its working perfect. With Windows 7 Beta its shown as unknown device which is ok, because i can install drivers myself including those needed to enable gameport again.
But Windows 7 RC does not list it all, not even unknown device!!!
This leads to the main reason for this card = THE GAMEPORT!
I use a MICROSOFT Sidewinder FF Pro. yes its a little older but working and looking as first day. 5 years i got a second one on ebay, just for the reason the first one breakes. Still unopened in the cellar.
ALL Joysticks support a usb to gameport adapter EXCEPT Microsoft.
Microsoft said that the gameport takes to much resources, did they realise they have Aero? Why cant they let ME decide if i use older Hardware?
Idea = Microsoft builds Joysticks again. A Sidewinder FF 3 would be nice. Or just a damn Adapter for the FF Pro!!! i would spend much for it, the Joystick is a Ultra luxury Masterpiece compared to most of todays Joysticks.
Check Ebay. The Microsoft Sidewinder FF 2 still costs 150$ and above.
People want Microsoft just deny.

When you say that Win7 doesn't "show it", I assume that you mean it's not visible in device manager. Is that correct? Or are you talking about Start -> "Devices and Printers" ?
Please type "devmgmt.msc" at the command prompt and look for your device when the device manager opens. You can change the view to show devices by connection if you prefer. That way you can see exactly what's installed in the PCI bus.

Windows Vista -> Card shown as unknown Device, manual install of Driver works, even Gameport works (Danial_k Driver)
Windows 7 BETA -> Card shown as unknown Device, manual install of Driver works, even Gameport works (Danial_k Driver)
Windows 7 RC -> Card is not shown at all. Device Manager does not show it, even not as unknown Device. View by Connection does not list a PCI Device on that Slot.
Reinstall for testing proofs, the win7 Beta does show it as unknown device. Install of RC afterwards again does not show it.
Beware the day the bulbs brake at redmond, for darkness the new standard will be.....
No new drivers, well, ok somehow. BUT XP DRIVERS WORK WITH VISTA AND WIN7 BETA!!! Driver installed successfully. Press finish -> deinstalling!
No error, can not start device or so. just delete them right away.
We dont support it anymore, Drivers still work but we dont want it, Buy a new Joystick, tho we dont produce them anymore because we fly our planes with a Mouse.

Would you please boot XP and then post the hardware ID for the device in this thread? I believe that you can find it by going to device manager, accessing the device properties, and selecting "hardware ids" from the dropdown on the details tab. It will be something like PCI\VEN_XXXX&DEV_XXXX&...
I am having the same issue. Xp sees the card W7 does not.
This is the card ID # out of device manager for Xp boot.
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_00311102&REV_00\4&13699180&0&4048
I think the issue has something to do with the chipset Nforce4 but I have been wrong before.

Thanks for reporting this. Would you please boot this machine to the latest Win7 build that you have access to and then look in device manager to see if there are any other devices with problem codes? If you find any devices with problem codes there, please post the problem code and hardware ID for each of them. Thanks!

It is not Micro$oft's responsibility to write friggin drivers for hardware that they did not manufacture. You have beef with this, go bitch and moan at creative for failing to support this device - I had one for my machine and could not use it for several months b/c creative would not make drivers for it supporting Vista - and still won't.
If you notice it is a third party who has written acceptable drivers for the device use under Vista.
Please get your facts straight b/f launching into a tirade against M$.
Let's hope it does show up as, at the very least, an unknown device....
Hm. Seems to me neither of these posts are a rant, rather one at an attempt at humor and the other at an attempt to help. No one says anything about Microsoft being at fault just a joke about the redmond campus. We are just a few people trying to solve each others problems.
As for the boot to W7, I will try it a bit later to see what the cards shows as if anything at all.
