Good Luck!
Recommend installing 7 and using PowerDVD for movies, since it has upscaling options for video like doubling the framerate and other goodies. My favorite player of the bunch.
As for it running smoothly per your question: Windows 7 runs smoothly even on my other machine which is P4 1.5 gHz no hyperthreading, 768 mb RDRAM, 6200A-LE video....so judging by that...
As I am typing on a custom built myself, I have just one thing to mention:
Before installing the RC, I would make sure to spend a little time examining and downloading the latest software drivers for your motherboard and video card. This can be as simple as visiting the makers websites. After you do that, you can then Google to see if anyone has had any troubles with W7 and your same hardware.
With the system I built - even tho I had one of the latest parts on the market - there were several updates.
My beast installed W7 beta so smooth I thought there was something wrong. I didn't NEED the latest drivers mind you- and odds are you may not either. But if you are going to start from scratch, I figured at install was the best time to get as up-to-speed as I could get.
Good luck with your new build! It looks to be a performer!
Only problem, is that I wont have any OS on this new build at all to install any drivers. Or do you not need an OS to install drivers or updates?
Kinda confuses me.
The win 7 install dvd will have drivers onit. The question is whether or not they will
work correctly. To be safe, people are downloading win7 drivers from specific vendors of their equipment (usually disk related). They download them on another machine and probably put them on cd so if the win 7 fails or has problems they can try to load the drivers at win 7 install time.
Snifferpro:
About installing the drivers...
When do I install drivers??
Do I install the drivers after I install Win 7 onto the new build?
Or..
Do I install the drivers before I install Win 7 onto new build?
Or..
Do I install the drivers during Win 7 install?
A little confused...
Also, you guys spoke of drivers from sites that were specific for my product and for win 7...where do I find these and how do I install these drivers??
Thanks for your help!
Hi BlakeH, You need to install the OS first. Once you have installed that, then install the drivers. Any problems just come back here and I'm sure someone will assist.
Sounds good! In process of downloading now.
Will report back.
