Installation trouble 32-bit to 64-bit
Hi everybody,
I run Vista Business (32 bit) on a Dell Vostro 1520 and I want to go to Windows 7 Professional x64 (I have 4 GB RAM and with 32 bits it would only see 3 GB). I checked if my system was able to run it and it does.
I want to go from 32 to 64 bits so upgrade is not an option. So I burned the ISO to a DVD (because when I mounted the image and tried to install it like that and it said that the program wasn't compatible with 32 bit...). I used Windows Easy Transfer for my files and stuff...
(I got my version of Windows 7 from MSDN Academic Alliance for students)
Everything looks normal:
- I boot from DVD
- I can select language
- I click "Install.."
and then it says:
"Header: Load Driver
Text: No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK"
I don't know what this means but I tried the installation CD "for reinstalling Dell Vostro 1520" -- I gues the initial drivers are on there...
The only drivers that showed on that CD was something like "Intell...SATA..."
I selected this one and clicked next... nothing happened... I got an error again about drivers that can't be find.
There was an option (check box) with "Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware". When I unchecked the box it showed a lot of 'Intel' drivers but I didn't try with these.
What should I do?
Thnx in advance!
