thanks for your suggestions but after 7 hours of trying to get an ubuntu to be useable its pretty obvious why it will never be a popular program beyond computer experts. there are only 2 resolution options available in virtual box unless you can write computer code. all that guest additions stuff..no idea if it is working or not. so goodbye virtually useless box and ubuntu from that source. going back to try and get it to work from a partition on the HD

It seems as though we are both right. I never noticed or looked at the logo in the top left of the screen. I was going by the description and the text on the page. I checked my current install as well, and it is listed as Sun Virtualbox. Go figure.
