Windows 7: Windows 7 Installation Freezes On My New Build

Sorry, I must have misinterpreted his statement. I thought he meant that Win 7 actually prompts you to install drivers, instead of clicking on the link.

Last time i tried this it didnt pick up any files on the disk with the drivers on it. I will try burning some disks again and make sure that the drivers are unzipped

WIN7 Ultimate 64bit

As you first load Win7 OS watch the screen - a panel pops up and tells you to "Press F6 Now"(Sata/Scsi) hit the key a couple of times to let windows know you need to load a Third Party Sata/Scsi driver for the OS to SEE the hard drive!!

After a few more minutes the "Advanced driver menu" will pop_up and let you search for the Sata/Raid driver on Floppy/CD/Dvd or usb stick etc

Download the correct motherboard chipset sata driver (check directly on Promise/Silicon Image/other websites for updated Win7 one) and away you go.

i tried testing the hard drive with the link provided and it just sat there at "scanning for drives" and never picked anything up.

also tried loading the drivers during install again, this time with the files unzipped. when i browse to select the file it still tells me "no device drivers were found. make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK".

I can uncheck an option that says "hide drivers that are no compatible with hardware on this computer" and for some of the drivers a list of files shows up. when i click on one and hit next it reverts back to the previous screen and doesnt do anything.

Tomorrow i am going to just pick up a new hard drive as a last ditch effort. This has sucked up every spare minute of my time trying to get this to work.

WIN7 Ultimate 64bit

If you wanna mess around with 64bit then you should have done yer research first!

Like I told you, go to the original manufacturer website and download the latest 64BIT sata/raid drivers for Win7 that you need!

All your drivers are prob. only 32bit on original CD or out of date for what you require - that's why it doesn't see them.

I do know that there is a special bit of software (downloaded from m/soft) you need to place on usb sticks in order for 64bit disk to see drivers on 32bit formatted usb sticks.

I'm eccentric and still use nearly decade old socket A motherboards!

To test your hard drive - go to original manufacturer website Seagate/Samsung/Western Digital etc and download one of their many FREE test tools. It will also correctly format your hard drive @ basic level.

I'm passing you over to guys who have more experience setting up 64bit!

Read and follow their instructions carefully and query anything you don't comprehend!
We have to learn new stuff everyday too.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update, set the SATA controller to AHCI to start, then IDE if neccessary.
Reading over thread, I can't find where you replied to these first steps given.

This could still be a problem with burn if you burned the DVD yourself. Verify the DVD by loading ISO into ImgBurn "Verify", make sure it says bootable in text at left, then insert DVD to Verify again.
