    1.) There is no i7 750
2.) If you're into heavy Photoshop, video, 3D - 1090T is better than an i5 750. You can 100% disagree all you want, but that doesn't change the fact. This is the most comprehensive benchmark of the 1090 and 1055 I've seen. It's 16 pages long and should answer every question there is about them.

The i5 750 is a great chip, but geez - keep it in perspective.
sorry, calling it an i7 was my bad...I've corrected it.

I am keeping it in perspective. And looking through that 16 page long guide shows over and over again that the performance of the i5-750 quad core is right up there with the 1055t and the 1090t. The last summary page shows the overall performance per dollar and the 1090t comes in at .40 and the 1055 at .39 and the core i5-750 at .36. These are very similar results. Then looking further down, the power efficiency per dollar is also in the Core i5's favor.

Now, the fact that the Core i5-750 is $100 cheaper than the 1090t at NewEgg and $5 cheaper than the 1055t at NewEgg...leaves me thinking that the Core i5-750 is the better way to go. Take that $100 saved on the CPU and put it into an SSD and you end up with an overall faster computer....even if the benchmarks are a fraction of a percent higher in a couple of areas for the AMD cpu.

And I was simply refuting the person who said that Intel was overrated and over priced and consumed more power and didn't efficiently handle memory. As a general statement, i don't think there is much truth in that.

Im curious which test is more accurate and why?

Gimp Image Editing, Handbrake Video Encoding | bit-tech.net

In this test, The AMD x6 tied with the Intel 930.
But the AMD is overclocked to 3.8 to do so, and the Core I7 in this test was running 1000mhz SLOWER with 2 less cores.

With the x6 at deafault speeds, (even though still faster) it wasnt nearly as close.

The i7-930 is at the same pricepoint.

Exactly...and as we can see these things are really neck and neck. But it's not longer accurate to blindly say..in all cases...amd is more bang for the buck and Intel is over priced, and under performing. This is simply not the case.

Don't mess around with the bios settings. Just use the default settings as recommended by the manufacturer..
Not to try and hi-jack the thread, or any offense intended but ..

Perhaps Im misunderstanding this part, Or the general idea behind it myself.

So I'm curious why you advise this?

    The reason is I ask:
I have always under the assumption a brand new Motherboard will boot up the 1st time under Fail Safe defaults, so that any variation of hardware intalled will be certain to start.

Then once started, by setting Optimized defaults and restarting, the board tunes itself to the users hardware configuration for the best or "optimal" settings.

So am I misuderstanding or something else I am missing here?

My concern now, is there something I should know and do before reaching the milestone? Any advice would be highly appreciated. I hope to get any response. Like I mentioned earlier this is a wonderfull forum with thoughtful people that has much knowlegde about computer.
    Thanks any way.
My own experience of a custom build computer was not exactly straight forwards. All of my problems were related to drivers and windows power management. All of those issues were resolved by reading these boards, updating drivers, and setting windows correctly for my purposes.

When you hit a snag, there is every possibility that someone else has had the same problem, and started a thread, which, hopefully concludes with a fix. I've even managed to find my own fixes, and posted them to help others. The result is, that apart from a RAID, I have a computer that rivals the performance of a power mac for a fraction of the price.

    All the best
