There is an updater tool that came on the system that I used to update the firmware. I forget how many times it updated.

That is what I was thinking. After doing a little more digging, it looks like some of the updates in the newest BIOS are for Win 7 specifically though.

This is starting to get completely ridiculous. For the life of me I cannot understand why they would remove something like AHCI from a BIOS UPDATE.

Ask whoever issued the BIOS update via email. Chances are you are somehow missing it.

If I can figure out who issued the new BIOS I can try that, but I seriously doubt that I am missing it. There aren't many options since this is a netbook computer and not a desktop. Plus, the one time people found it in the BIOS, it could only be accessed by pressing certain hotkeys to enable a hidden menu in the BIOS.

Is there a way for me to install the Intel AHCI drivers as part of the installation process (like the F6 back in XP and before days) or will I have to install it after the fact? Also, that tutorial refers to the MS drivers, would it be a similar process for the Intel drivers but I just have to look for the Intel driver and not the MS?

I think I might just try and install and see what happens, but if I can load the Intel AHCI drivers as part of the initial installation that might save some registry tweaks.

Contact the manufacturer which issued the BIOS update on their website. It will be either the computer maker or the mobo maker - you updated it so should know where you got it from.

You can try inserting drivers at the Load Drivers link on "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen. They need to be unzipped on a stick or CD, browse into the driver files until they are detected and picked up.

When I tried contacting Samsung which is where I downloaded the update through, they said they can't do anything in regards to BIOS support.

I am beginning to wonder if this is worth all of the hassle it is becoming.

Worrying so much about AHCI probably isn't worth it, I agree.

It seems you've done about all you can do.

Go ahead and try inserting the drivers during install as you proposed.
