Windows 7: Windows 7 shutdown when attempting to install 64 bit

Windows 7 shutdown when attempting to install 64 bit

Im having a really stressful bug, I'm trying to do a clean windows 7 install

What happens is the setup will load and the splash logo with the 4 colour balls that form a windows logo will appear, but shortly after that it will shutdown, going into a "hibernate" mode and if i try to turn it on with power again there is no video input

I've been searching the internet alot for any answer but nothing has worked

I am using a burned windows 7 disc, I have a OEM key that I bought from newegg however the disc is not with me as I am in Canada and I had it shipped to family who gave me the key through e-mail

Also, I was successful in installing XP on the hard drive, but windows 7 only causes a shutdown

It had windows 7 before that I had installed, but it was the enterprise version and it had no product key so I wiped the hard drive once I bought the legitimate key

Burn the ISO with ImgBurn at 4x speed - it never fails.

If you downloaded the ISO because you don't have the installer with you (just the key) then rightclick scan the ISO with your AV and Malwarebytes, then check the HASH on your download against the Win7 HASH to make sure the ISO is intact and legit.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update, if so then reset your CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS Set the SATA controller to AHCI in BIOS setup.

Remove all but 2 gb of RAM for install, test your RAM, swap RAM sticks.

Wipe the HD before install to get cleanest slate: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

You may need to try more than one method to successfully write ISO to USB flash stick: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create
How to: install Windows (any version from XP to Win7) from a USB/flash drive | Featured | dotTech

What always works for me is to use UltraISO trial version: load ISO, select Write Image File on Bootable tab, use format button first.

Then use the one-time BIOS boot menu key, flash stick will often be listed under HD's.

Thanks for the continued help

I recently purchased a 8GB kingston data traveler but I don't have a "clean" unedited copy of windows 7 just yet (Like the version that would be on the physical DVD's they would include in a retail package)

It doesn't recongize the USB flash key drive, even after enabling usb legacy support and changing the boot priority/sequence

I should be getting a offical CD copy of the software soon, but is there anywhere I can download it? I checked Microsoft site but you have to buy a key from that site to get that feature. I'm just looking for a unaltered software retail copy of Windows 7

I did update my BIOS as well, I was able to install windows 7 (it was a enterprise edition off a torrent site) the first time I don't understand why there is so much problem now

Hello again.

We here at Seven Forums don't discuss downloading MS software, it is possible though.

Enterprise is not a retail version of Win7 and has a completely different licensing scheme so it will not take the retail OEM key you bought from NewEgg.

You need to borrow or obtain a retail installer of Win7 for your version, or all versions can be unlocked in any installer using this method: Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc - Create

If you download the ISO make sure nothing is added (2.33gb) by rightclicking to scan with AV and checking the HASH against official ISO HASH.

OK so I got a new windows DVD today, OEM copy genuine

But the same error persists when I try to install it from DVD, it hibernates after the windows 7 boot splash loading screen

Trying the USB key now, also removed 4gb of memory so there's only 4gb in there right now as well as removed everything unnecessary to do with the installation

Going to also format the hard drive again, I have a spare hard drive as well so im going to see if the same error persists on that one as well
