Hello lyxtian, welcome to Seven Forums!

Just to start this off, where did the ISO of XP you're creating the USB with come from; are these the tutorials you are using so far?

I have never gotten XP to install from a USB flash drive. I'm sure it can be done but wasn't worth the trouble.

Can you borrow a CD drive if you don't have one? Set it as first to boot, then install XP.

    Hi there
if your BIOS allows booting from an external drive then set it to boot from the USB drive.

I'm not sure if its valid any more but because of the different way boot works in W7 compared to XP I thought you had to install the OLDER OS first and then install W7 which will create the correct bootloader.

Things have changed since I last messed around with Dual Boot so this might not be valid anymore.

With newer hardware and bigger / faster disks I find it easier to use a VIRTUAL MACHINE when I need XP or another OS.

That might be a better plan these days -- use vmware player or vbox both FREE and excellent.

    Cheers
