Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
Sure, that is possible. Just make 2 independent installations where you switch between the systems with the BIOS boot sequence.

Unplug all drives except the one on which you want to install and put your XP on the IDE. Then replug everything and go to the Boot sequence from the splash screen after power-on to select from which disk you want to boot. Very simple and the safest way.

That is not a "Dual Boot" in the traditional sense, but works a lot better and you never have to worry about messed up bootmanagers, etc.

Use the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen to trigger the HD not set to boot first.
