    install hang

    Hi

Installing a new pc with pro 64 bit.

It installs but constantly hangs after setting the desktop up ie.

    Hanged when downloading updates
    Hung when installing updates
    hung when installing office 2007
hung when installing motherboard drivers etc etc.

Any ideas what the probolem couldbe?

I've even installed a copy of window 7 32 bit with the same result.

Never hangs in the same place and always needs a turn off at the mains to get it going.

    thanks

    Ian

    Hi

Yes . 've used a new clean hard drive, I've run fdisk/mbr and run the installation from both a USB and dvd drive.

    Really weird

beginning to suspect a faulty motherboard

    cheers

Have you tried it with only 1 ram memory stick & NO Ext USB devices connected, except the USB win7 install flash drive ?

Test your RAM with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes, then your HD with maker's full diag/repair CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp. Then run Disk Check

Check the Event Viewer>Admin View to google repeat errors to see how others resolved them. Check also the Performance log on Advanced Tools page accessed by clicking through WEI score at Computer>Properties. Check for cued issues at top of Tools page, then Generate A System Health Report.

Did you wipe the HD before installing?
