Hello northiam.

Here are all the commands you need to create a parttion with <enter> after each command, then "exit" after the "created" conformation to leave diskpart and "exit" again to close the command window and continue the install.

WIN7 Ultimate 64bit

motherboard says it has vga dvi and hdmi connectors

Can you try anything besides vga lead - you are far better off using 'digital' Dvi lead anyway with your monitor

What make/model is DVD drive
Win 7 disks are burned as [dual layer R-] I think

Seen this before >>> need new reader
Real slow reading/giving up is coz older dvd models can't read the newer DVD standard properly or need firmware update to read properly!

On problem installs where I no longer want to waste time troubleshooting failure, I move the HD to another PC, install with all other HD's removed.

When returning HD to problem machine it starts most of the time, swapping out all drivers while requesting several restarts.

If not, I boot into Safe Mode to install chipset and display driver which will often start it, or run Startup Repair from the booted DVD/Repair CD.
