well i tried several cds ..i tried 7 vista xp everything but it gives the same error...but whn u try to install XP it says there is no primary storage device!!!..ahhh dell suks
That's because XPired is too old to have the modern SATA drivers needed to detect your HD - you'd have to slipstream them in.
Did you reset BIOS to defaults before trying WIn7 install? Do you have a single SATA HD and is it correctly detected in BIOS setup? If this is the case and you already tried AHCI setting, then try IDE mode. What are the other available settings for SATA controller?
@ gregrocker...the options avaialbe are ATI ,AHCI and restore to factory settings AHCI mode...i tried ATI but it did nt work..I think initially it had AHCI it does not have IDE ....and i do have a single SATA HD....If i were to slipstream em ..how should i do it....help me i really appreciate it...
well..i tried windows xp....but the friggin thing says no HDD found for setup to continue.....this is a real crappy piece of laptop.....even i tried ubuntu ...when i boot that from the CD the loader goes for a while and the laptops shuts down .....I am totally fed up with this shit ..dell suks!!..i did install this same win 7 cd in a acer laptop ..it wrks owesome....
well...i tried today mornig with ACHI settings ..now it gives this error
"windows intallation encountered an unexpected error, verify that the installation sources are acessible. and restart the installation
error code 0xC0000005"
It does seem to be that the DVD Player is not reading the disk correctly.
Have you tried my advice in post#10 above?
