    Preparing to re-install 7 - Partition Problem

Sorry for starting a new thread for this. It seems unconnected to the isses I was having before.

I have decided to do a full re-install of windows 7, and have also decided to use my old WinXP disk to do a full format of both hard drives.

I delete all existing partitions, and go to create a partition on what will be the c: drive, and notice that it has also partitioned the D: drive without being asked to (not to 100% either)

I'm sure this didn't use to happen and that drives could be partitioned independantly. This seems very odd to me.

Could anyone shed any light as to why this is happening? I don't want to re-install 7 only to find it is still an issue.

EDIT - NOtice that both disks also have the same MBdisk Number, ID number and bus number. I'm sure one used to be 0 and the other 1? Am I going mad?

    Regards

    Paul

Why use the XPired CD to do the format if you have a Win7 DVD?

Best to boot the Win7 DVD to wipe both HD's first to overwrite any conflicting code: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Then partition and format during Win7 install: Clean Install Windows 7
