Win7 Re-installation

There is one other thing you can do. == Your PC has a sticker on it somewhere with your Win 7 Key. If you can borrow a friends copy of Win 7, you can use it to install and put your Win 7 Key in. This will be a legal install.

Hi danishboy90, welcome to the forums :)

You should find that when you first turn your laptop on you get a prompt similar to...

Press F2 to enter setup or F10 for Recovery

If you get the option then choose 'Recovery' as this will allow you restore your machine to factory settings.

   Information

For a few years now, suppliers have been doing away with install CD/DVD's as they set up a recovery partition in order for you recover your system to the point where you first opened the lid & turned it on

Excellent advice Ted but if the bootmgr file is missing there's really no way of getting to any sort of system/startup repair without having a disk to boot from

If you'll look at Option One, Step Three you'll see a link to creating a W_7 recovery disk.

Forgive me (i've just finished work) but the 'Within Windows' bit still wont work if you can't get anything started due to 'bootmgr missing'. It's the first thing Windows looks for when trying to boot. If that's gone then you cannot boot unless you have a DVD (i had the same happen this morning )..

If you're going to comment on this stuff, please look at it, here's the same link in the tutorial, Option Two shows how to download a repair CD from NeoSmart that can be used to boot the PC.

Then if you can't get into Windows, Option Two in this tutorial shows how to boot to diskpart to mark the Windows partition as active so the startup repairs can be done to get Windows booting again on its own.
