Vista HD data transfer
Old Vista PC bit the dust so I bought a new PC w/Win7x64. Figured I would pop the old hard drive in to retrieve the data. Everything works great. However, when I try to access the \User subfolders on the old Vista HD, I get an access denied error. A message pops up that says I can click Continue to permanently be able to access the folder. I click Continue and I see a status bar up in the top of of Windows Explorer where the path name is that starts to build quickly and then slows down. I wait and wait and wait, but nothing ever happens.
Is there anyway I can get to this data? I can't put it back in the old PC to change the permissions as the sys board died and PC is unbootable. There must be a way. Thanks for any help!! |

Hello Brentallica, welcome to Seven Forums!
Have a look at this tutorial at the link below to see if you can copy/paste the data from the old HDD to the new one with the old HDD in the new PC, I've used the method myself and it's very effective; be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed. Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console |

BSOD on data transfer, I think I'm getting a recurring BSOD on my new media PC and can't figure out the source. I've noticed it coincides with data transfer, once or twice when I left it downloading something big overnight and today twice when copying large chunks from the 3-HDD RAID to an external drive. I've considered that it... |
