    W7 Upgrade/Clean Boot Help Needed

I current have Vista, and since the SP2 update something went wrong and a handful of important software won't work anymore.

I live in Germany now, though I had bought my computer in the states. My install dvd/information for my computer is all tucked away in a box some where in my mom's garage.

So I can't just re-install vista like I need to, and I have decided to just get Windows 7 instead. I see that I can do a clean install with the upgrade software, but my question is...

Will I have to input my validation key or something similar that I don't have access to?

    or

Do I need to get the full version?

    Thanks,
    Vic

So...if I have updates needed to Vista, this won't work?

SP2 screwed up a bunch of crap, and there are about 15 updates that won't go through. I can't uninstall the update, and by the time I noticed what the problem was, the auto-backup system already had SP2 on it.

That should not matter. You are upgrading to a different OS, not vista with updates.

Just follow the instructions, and you'll be fine.

Follow the tutorial that LiquidSnak gave you. When installing, it will format your drive and erase everything. Be sure and back up all files that you want kept.
