vista system recovery on windows 7

I did a Vista32 Windows Image Backup for system image recovery on an external usb hard drive. I did a complete Windows 7 64 installation and it is working great so far. Now I want to restore the files from the Vista32 Windows Image Backup.

I booted the W7 installation disk and chose repair and got to the correct screen to us the USB hard drive to do a restore. It found the file but it would not proceed. It said I need to boot using Vista installation disk.

Essentially what I want is the restoration of MSOffice and some of the files I created along the way.

Please advise me how to proceed.

Welcome to SF Am I correct that you want to import vista data (or is it applications) into win 7. If its data (office files) you can install office in win 7 then import the data files. Anything that needed to be installed in vista is probably gonna need to be installed in win 7. The other data files like e-mail, word docs, etc can be imported.
Hope this help somewhat. If you need more help dont hesitate to ask there are tons of smart people willing to help

I was hoping to restore the whole office app but it sounds like that is not going to work. I can install Office on Monday. Until then I will just use Open Office or another computer. The doc files are in the backup image I suppose but I do not know how to fetch them. I should have simply done a file and settings transfer wizard then I would know what to do. This is my first time to do the backup/restore technology... lol.

The system Image restore folder on my USB hard drive is useless I suppose.
