Weird issue with Upgrading vs. Clean Installation

After build 7201 was leaked earlier this week, I decided to do a clean install instead of upgrading over my RC 7100, just to be careful.

The clean installation worked fine, but it said my audio driver wasn't compatible with that build. I believe Realtek put out a new driver download before or right around the time build 7100 came out (which it has been working fine for quite some time). So then I did an upgrade just for the hell of it on build 7100 and my driver worked fine.

So how come when I do a clean installation the driver isn't supported (and I don't have the option to download it from Microsoft Updates and/or Realtek), but when I upgrade it's completely fine???
anyone else ever experienced this or figured this out?

I have no idea, on that, unless MS simply left that out... you know they do leave things out at times... - "They call that BETA". I'm one of those UPGRADERS> my question to you " do you have audio?

yea

yea, i got audio b/c i did an upgrade from 7100 to 7201.
7100 originally had audio without a problem, it was 7201 that had the issue when i did a clean install.

i think my biggest quesiton with this thread, would be, is it possible to save my driver on say build 7100 (where windows update had the necessary driver) and then use it on newer builds like 7264 (where i've restarted multiple times and can't automatically get a driver installed).

here's the version i have on xp & i think was installed probably around build 7100.
(and that's why i've chosen to upgrade instead of clean install b/c then i lose my audio

hooray i finally figured it out on my own lol
a simple search for the version number above (3.21.0.0) gave me a few driver downloads, and i picked the most credible one (HP) and it works like a charm
thanks everyone, guess i just had to think this one out
