1: You should have mentioned you had tried xyz procedure several weeks ago.
2: Link posted by gregrocker is the best info on the subject.
3: You should post a screenshot of your partitions.
4: You need to post the details of "What did not work", what error messages you are getting. What OS is booting, or not etc.
5: When you did the install, was the drive CLEAN? Did it have a OEM recovery partition or any active partition at time of install? Do you see a 100mb system reserved partition?
6: Does pressing (F8) bring up Start-up repair without Win7 disc in drive?
7: Ditto- what error messages /info is displayed when you run a Start-up-repair?
7: Are you installing Win7, XP to a primary- or logical partition?
8: You mention Win7 is installed, and you have XP discs.... Do you have access to Win7 (RTM) disc?

    Hi there
While you can't use XP MODE why not install VMWARE PLAYER and create a standard XP Virtual machine.

I'm running an XP Virtual machine on a small NETBOOK without any problems -- I have to use XP to use my Scanner, CAD plotter and some other hardware that won't run on W7.

VMWARE player is FREE and unless you need to create VIDEO on XP you can do most other things (including Audio editing / creating) on an XP virtual machine.

Advantage also is you could install and run your XP virtual machine on a USB stick too.

You can then use the VM on any machine without having to re-install XP.

    Cheers

Please check windows documentation reference manuals whit additional information." I got that when i first booted up after installing xp, and I got it again after using easybcd and selecting Microsoft Windows XP .
5: yes, and no It was a partion of disk one i named XP and gave the X: drive letter.
    6:When do i press f8?
    7: you have 2 7s
7(1): primary, what is the difference?

Thanks, I was thinking about that, but sadly one of the things i need to do is use Windows Movie Maker, and not the version thats made for vista but works in 7
i need the original windows xp one.
    Thank you though,
I think i might just try that as a temporary solution
