    oooppsss i've done it now

Just got a Samsung N350 and installed ok until i couldnt change the background picture so i googled it and apparently you can't unless you follow these instructions well
    · Do this and you will be able to change your Wall paper
    1. Open regedit (aka registry editor; you can access it from the star menu by typing “regedit” in the search box…)
    2. Go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\” folder and click on it
    3. On the right hand side find there are a bunch of entries. Find the key named “Wallpaper” and double click on it and put the path of the picture you want as your new wallpaper (example path is “C:\Users\Bob\Pictures\new_wallpaper.jpg”)
    4. Right-click on the “Desktop” folder in regedit that you found in step 2 and click Permissions.
    5. Click “Advanced”
    6. Go to “Owner” tab, highlight your name in the box that says
    ʽChange owner toʼ
( There are only two choices the other is Administrator )… once your user name is highlighted click “OK”
    7. Click on “Advanced” again
    8. Uncheck the button that reads “Include inheritable permissions from the object
    ʼ
s parent”… click “Remove” when prompted
    9. Click “Add”
    10. Type “Everyone” and click “OK”
    11. Check Allow “Read Control” and click “OK”
    12. Click “OK” again
    13. Highlight “Everyone” and check to Allow “Read” and click “OK”
    14. Restart Computer and enjoy new Wallpaper <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

well i tried this and think i went abit wrong somewhere ticking and unticking wrong boxes and now everytime i start the computer and log onto main account the screen is just black and only the mouse courser visiable and moves around but won't let me right click or anything and i've tried all the buttons as well and nothing.
if i go on to guest account though the screen comes up fine though and everything is ok it's just when i log on to main account.
is there a way of uninstalling reinstalling windows 7 starter from the start up screen and how do i do it.
    Please help

    thanks

    gary

    Hi

Do a system restore to a time before the problem.

You sure went thru a lot of trouble and seem to have mucked it up. I suggest you restore the system to a restore point prior to when you made the modifications so that you can start with a clean slate.

I assume you have Win7 Starter edition. If yes, follow this tutorial: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...7-starter.html

Hello GWtaylor, welcome to Seven Forums!

Here's a link to the tutorial to follow to do a system restore, like has been said, choose a restore point before you made the ooops and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

See if you can Boot into safe mode by using the F8 key during boot-up.
    Then do a SFC

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If you can't get anything to work it might be worth following this tutorial,

    System Recovery Options

If method 1 doesn't work then follow this (option 2),

    System Repair Disc - Create

to create a repair disk, then go back to the first link and follow method 2 to run System Restore.

Start with the machine turned off, as soon as you press the power button immediately start tapping the space bar to see if you can get to this first screen, if you do hit the F8 key to see if you get the "Repair ... " option like in the second snip; if you can get this to work you may not need to create a recovery disk.

If you do you can do Method Two in the system restore tutorial.

The "Last Known Good ... " option may work if system restore doesn't.
