    Changing System Partition

Purchased a new VAIO Z with dual-SSD. Decided to break the RAID array so I could use TRIM. One SSD is fast enough, plus now I'll be able to use the other as a backup (VAIO Z bios doesn't support RAID 1).

Anyways, upon a fresh install of Windows 7, it appears that the 100mb hidden Sony partition on disk 1 was marked as the system drive, while the actual OS, boot, page file, etc. was all put onto disk 0. How the heck do I move the system designation from disk 1 to disk 0? Screenshot of my disk array is attached.

Use Method Two in this tutorial to mark Win7 partition Active, then mark 100mb partition Inactive: Partition - Mark as Active

Power down to Temporarily unplug Disk1 so 100mb will not interfere, restart to enter BIOS setup to set DISK0 as first HD to boot (after DVD drive) then boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept any offered repair & restart, if necessary boot back into Repair, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to write the System MBR to Win7 partition. Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

When Win7 starts up, you can power down to plug back in DISK1, format it in Disk Management - if necessary use Diskpart "Delete Partition Override"

If you'd like a graphical picture instead of Diskpart to mark Active/Inactive and delete partition, use Free Partition Wizard bootable CD. Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online
