Ipersonnally do not think you will get very much perfomance out of it running 64bit with 1gb ram

well i am thinking to extend its ram from 1gb to 2gb but more than this, its not possible as it has only one slot for ram....thats the -ve point i think in my view...

installing x64 on this machine...u think it will not perform well, cuz of intel atom processor or what else reason??

Even with 2gb of ram you would be better going 32bit i'm not 100% certain that atoms can run 64bit one of the more experienced members may be able to tell you for certain :)

no dear mam...i didnt sell it yet...this dell studio 1737 laptop that i have,is from so long and it has been with me through all problems,i cant suddenly sell it giving prefernce to gateway...well that was interesting for me that u remembered me from another post in this post..thanxx a lot

to all other respected members,i know i must run upgrade advisor but i had been lazy in doing it...dun know why but i somehow managed to go to gateway site for finding its drivers and i was astonished to see, that they have released drivers for windows 7 both(x86 n x64) it means it will run it perfectly...

just a bit being confused, shall i really keep gateway or not.... :P:P i mean using it as normal pc completely using it as laptop as i am using my dell studio 1737 (it is my entire computer)

if you don't really need the money from a sale , i would keep both at the very least if one packs up you have the other to fall back on

You would want to try 32 bit Win7 on that hardware, not 64 bit. The RAM is low even for 32 bit but it should run well enough to test it.

Remember you have a weak processor which compounds the RAM weakness.
