System Upgrade from 775 to 1366
I'm about to upgrade my computer to an i7 system. Should I do another clean install of Se7en after the upgrade, or will Se7en do well at adapting to the new hardware?

Well first let me ask you this, Are you going to replace the motherboard too along with the CPU?
If you are then do a clean install the old mobo will have different drivers and stuff do to whats on the board. This may cause problems with a new one.
If its just a CPU then pop it in and run no extra setup needed beside BIOS stuff.
I myself always do a clean install of my OS when upgrading to a new setup.
+1 When replacing motherboards it is best to do a clean install otherwise you may have problems even getting the OS to load at all.
Thanks. Yes, I'll be replacing the old mobo with an Asus P6T, so clean install it is then. Thanks again.
I read somewhere that if you do decide to do an upgrade of mobo/cpu, to remove all the drivers from device manager pertaining to the current setup before you last shut down the computer. Replace what you want, and then windows will treat it as a "first boot" for unknown hardware.
Never done it myself, but it seems to make sense. Granted you have alot of drivers to uninstall through device manager, maybe if you list by connection instead of resource you can take it all out with one bang. If you plan on doing a fresh install anyways, it's worth a try.
With a Vista system I swapped out a 775 motherboard for a1366. More accurately, I pulled the hard drives out of one box and put them in a new one. It took Vista about an hour to straighten it all out, and I was up and running. I had to re-validate Vista and several other pieces of software, and all was well. I say try it.
Bye
The above is very good advice, but we cant really tell you what you should do.
Clean install would be far easier, and less headache, although I wouldn't recommend it unless your up for a challenge. it IS possible to do an install-repair after swapping the hard drives to the new MB. This will take longer, and will end up with more data on the disk from the OS install, due to the left-in bloated driver scripts. I've done it, but it was 3 hours wasted of my life.
Clean Install +1
