For each Windows 7 instance you run inside a VM, you'll need a license.

If you are running Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate, you get one licensed Windows XP for free with XP mode. Any other OS needs to be licensed indivudually, whether this runs on hardware or in a VM.

For the purpose of licensing, a VM is a separate PC.

Ok, so I install in a vm with seperet licensing. If I delete that vm and reinstall win 7, do I lose the second licensing from the first vm?

    Thx

Err..I understand only english but retail licenses of windows are transferable, as long as you use one on only one machine at a given time. At the most you may need to call MS to activate.

I will suggest if you are only using each machine for a short period of time do not use a product key and just use the 30 trial.

Abhishek, you are answering the wrong question. OP's question is whether he can use the same key on 2 separate windows installs- one real, the other virtual. The answer is No because one license can only be used in one install at any time.

You are obviously using 2 different keys because you have different editions.
