    Help Reinstalling Windows 7 Please

Well I am running Windows 7 on a laptop that is not even a year old yet. About amonth ago I had finished up a paper, went to class and when I came back my virus scanner said it had detected and deleted a virus. The only problem was neither IE or FireFox would work, luckily though IE 64bit did work. After amonth of trying to fix my computer I feel I have only made it worse and just want to reinstall windows 7 which I thought would be an easy task from what I have read.

When I go to make a backup disk my computer takes about 10 hours and only get about 33% of the way done so I decided to say forget that. Now when I go to reinstall windows 7 I get to the point where it says insert windows 7 reinstall disk. After I put it in I get an error, (error 0x3e7)and it says that im missing something I need. Also sometimes my computer will give me this message right away and sometimes it takes any from 1/2 hour to 1 1/2hours to give me this error but I have never been able to get to the setup screen.

If anyone can help your help will greatly by welcomed, Thank You

There are 2 ways to recover:

    1. A complete reinstall to factory settings which works like this on a Dell:
    http://support.dell.com/support/topi...&isLegacy=true

    2. You can go back to a previous restore point. For that, type System Restore into the Start/Search and hit enter. Then you get the wizard. If it does not work on the proposed restore point, try another one.

If System Restore won't run from Windows 7, you can use a Win7 Installation DVD or make a Recovery CD in Backup Center, boot it to run System Restore. System Restore
    System Repair Disc - Create

You can also copy out your files using Repair Disk or Installation DVD if you are unable to drag and drop the files to DVD, external or flash stick: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Next try to run Factory Recovery as Wolfgang explained. Do you have any disks supplied by Dell?

If you need/want to find a Windows 7 installation DVD to clean reinstall, here are some tips on how to get a perfect reinstall based on hundreds done here: re-install windows 7
