MS Security Updates ISO up to Sept 2010

Re-installing your os, this might help, found it by chance really, but looks like a smart way to download now this way you'll have the updates before even going on-line:

Your Welcome Zig, since doing a re-install now, was looking for the latest dx package and found this. Walked right into it and said neat!

Its almost like a mini service pack of just security updates!

Keep in mind I think that is only for the updates released on the patch Tuesday for that month, not up to that month. I believe they release a separate one for each month/patch Tuesday. I think its geared more to wards your company IT pro than home users. As you have found out they don't really advertise it and you have to go digging around to find it.

EDIT: If you click the download link you'll see this.
This DVD5 ISO image file contains the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on September 14th, 2010. The image does not contain security updates for other Microsoft products. This DVD5 ISO image is intended for administrators that need to download multiple individual language versions of each security update and that do not use an automated solution such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). You can use this ISO image to download multiple updates in all languages at the same time.

This MS Website has a list of all the ISO images available:

Security updates are available on ISO-9660 DVD5 image files from the Microsoft Download Center

Goes all the way back to January 2006 so it must include Vista and Windows 7 as Win 7 was released in October of 2009. With a little patience and time someone could perhaps (hint hint hint) combine all the Win 7 ones into a single DVD ISO.

Edit: Also includes Windows 2000 and XP.

Somebody already did it for windows 7, Microsoft. SP1 beta can be downloaded as an ISO file. I'm not saying what you suggest isn't a good idea, just that it has essentially already been done for you. The final release for SP1 isn't that far away either. If I actually knew what I was doing I might tackle doing one for XP, the OS that never seems to go away. :)
