movin from win xp media center edition to 64 bit win7

    Hello,
I have bought new desktop pc with amd athlon processor and got 64 bit Win7 home premium.
I also have a notebook from 2006 with intel inside and 32 bit Win XP media center edition 2002 sp3.

I got 2 installation disks of Win7, I did try to install Win7 on another partition of my notebook but to no avail. During installation process windows loads the files but then I get message, that the machine doesnt support it and it ask me to exit boot manager.

I was thinking of installing Win7 and move on from XP.
Is it possible to do it ?
    thanks for help.

Hello nikanika, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you were trying to 'upgrade' XP to Windows 7 (from within XP) that's not possible, it has to be a clean install; be sure to run the upgrade advisor to make sure the PC will run Windows 7 first and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Which DVD disc did you try to install on teh laptop, the X86 (32 bit) or the X64 (64 bit). Sounds like you tried top use the X64 one and the laptop does not support 64 bit.

Also, you cannot install the X86 version on one computer and the X64 on another, the license does not allow that.
